Not that I can find although it shouldn't be too difficult to scratchbuild.

Here's a good pic of a RAM sponson taken aboard USS Nimitz a couple of days ago. It may be helpful for anyone who is modeling her in her current config.

Yes the Nimitz has a hanger deck, but you have detail it to make look out standing,Cyrus Tan, Kelly Quirk and some others.Me no maybe the next CVN but not the 2005 Nimtiz I built. And don't rush your project haste makes waste. Good Luck on your projects :wave_1:

Guys! A buddy of mine on another forum directed me to this site that has some incredible pictures of the elusive USS Nimitz starboard island CIWS mount. As I'm sure many of you know, this was only in existance for a certain period of time, then the got rid of it. So, depending on when your modeling her, these pics are like GOLD. It also has some more recent pics from 03 and 04

I won't rush it but I'm not sure I could afford all the after market stuff to make it a show piece

Ok, I promised myself I'd never do another 1/700 kit, but after seeing a Trumpy Nimitz kit in my LHS for $53, I jumped on it. Anyone have any observations on this fine-looking kit? I am so stoked to work on it that I am putting my Forrestal build on hold. Any input/comments/observations/witty remarks are appreciated. Also, any websites with pics of the "as built" Nimitz?

I picked it up in a place called Baseline Hobbies in West Babylon NY, out on Long Island. I spotted the listing for it in the back of Fine Scale Modeler. To me a great hobby shop - just shelves full of kits to be searched through, and lots of other cool modeling stuff. I got the 1975 version - I am not a big fan of 1/700 after my Mount Whitney build. My fingers and eyes won't let me do these kits justice, but this was just such a cool kit I couldn't pass it up. The detail is incredible, even inside the hangar deck. I will post pics soon.

Does anyone out there have the Trumpeter 1/700 Nimitz (1975)? I have built the fantail section (parts A6, A12, B13, A13) and there is an open slot left that doesn't seem to get any part in the directions - it is against the bulkhead part A12, left of center.

WTB/WTT YMW Nimitz decals

Post by Mike C »

Does anyone have any of the YMW 1/350 decals for the A-7 or F-14 squadrons that they'd be willing to part with? I can send a Money Order, or trade for some spare castings of original pattern 1/350 F-8, or RF-8 Crusaders that I have. I'm building a model on commission and need them within the next week, or so. Email at the address below to work out the details and postal addresses. Thanks for looking.

@ the other John,
go to DVIC (http://www.dodmedia.osd.mil/), type "lcc-19" in the Searchbox and go to the 2nd page, there you are...
Good luck on your project!

Are you asking what other ships sail with the Reagan as part of the strike group?

Since we're on a Ronald Reagan tangent, I have the Italeri Roosevelt which I plan to do as Reagan. Easy to convert or am I just going to build another Nimitz-class carrier and mark it 76? Comments? Input?
