I love the A-I classes too but I must share this love with V/W class and
something from Continent: French Contre-Torpilleurs, German 1934 type
Zerstorer and Italian Cacciatorpediniere.

I have Mr. English's book Amazon to Ivanhoe. Maybe not "spectacular"
for the first glance but I regard it as one of my most precious.
Very useful when it is necessary to check a thing and I think only one devoted to these classes exclusively.
If "developped" a bit and packed with more pics and good drawings
it could be a bible for guys like me! :thumbs_up_1:

BTW If not a secret, has Mr. English some publishing plans? Maybe something devoted to earlier British Destroyers? :welcome:

Regards

Sadly I didn't have the chance to speak to him at length there was too many people to see and speak to and not enough time!

If you want to build 4-pipers then AOTS HMS Campbeltown is worth seeking out.

Laurence,

Here are a few from my collection.

"Arctic Destroyers, The 17th Flotilla" by G.G. Connell Covers the "O" class William Kimber 1982

"Destroyer Man" by Rear Admiral A.F. Pugsley His early career and later command of a number of RN destroyers in combat. Weidenfeld and Nicolson 1957 same title as one of your books, but different story I believe.

"Destroyers at War" by Gregory Haines Ian Allen 1982 Large format history of some major RN destroyer actions with large, fine photos

Bob B.

one australian book, does the R.A.N. count?

"Scrap Iron Destroyers" by L.J. Lind and A. Payne The Naval Historical Society of Australia 1976 The Story of HMA ships Stuart, Vampire, Vedetta, Voyager and Waterhen. Great medit. naval action in this book!

This may be a bit off topic, but deals with books on RN warships.

I have often wondered why there has never been a complete operational and technical history of The Royal Navy Fast Minelayers of the "Abdiel" Class. They had great operational careers and were very valuable to the war effort. Not to mention being of great technical interest and handsome warships if ever there were any. :eyebrows:
All I have on them is the Warship Profile issue and an article on their operational history in a Warship volume. But this article left out alot of their many and varied operations and successful minelaying operations in the Med.

I suppose it's because a destroyer only minelaying book has been produced.

There not full cruisers so they don't appear in Raven & Roberts and thus their sort of left on their own.

Like you I'm left with general Med campaign books, warship articles and the warship profile. Though somewhere I did make some notes on some of the operations they were involved in, but there were so many!

I don't have this book personally, but there might be something in here Bob:-
