Omaha Class Light Cruiser

Post by NucSub »

Have finally made a decision (have plans in hand) on what to build though not exactly which ship.
Scale to be 1/96th. RC as I have a pond in the back yard that needs something floating on it besides ducks.
First scratch build of any sort in too many years. So off to the newbie questions.....
1. Appears in this scale I'll have about 1.5inch of freeboard aft. Will this be an issue while on the water? Have no real experience with RC ships, only built static prior.
2. Am considering using fibreglass construction similar to Moffet. While on the plug, I plan to leave the very stern bulkheaded off and ad after. Question, will the slight tumblehome in the hull be an issue getting it off the plug? I believe having the stern open will allow some flex to allow removal by spreading the top of the hull.
I am sure there will be many more similar questions but, I must start somewhere.... All input and suggestions welcome and thank you ahead of time.

1. you should have no trouble.

2. good idea, make curtain the hull is not twisted when you make up the stern section.
Simple but effective.
