Well, Patton and other older movies had that accuracy problem also but I was really speaking of Private Ryan one because one of the Tigers that show up in the movie haves the wheels of a T-34!!!!!!

You're supposed to watch these movies through 'beer goggles'!
If an unfriendly power had attempted to impose on America the mediocre educational performance that exists today, we might well have viewed it as an act of war.

Technically not history, but I always get steaming hot monkey miffed when some buffoon says '... a Soyuz rocket docked with the international space station ISS today...'

They did that for the Tigers in Kelly's Heroes as well.

Battle of Britain springs to mind and the Spanish Me109's with Merlin engines.

Curious indeed that detail, Rob. More curious and not sure if you are aware of that is the fact that some of the Spitfires that took part in that film were in fact former Portuguese Air Force Spitfires which were long out of service and went to Britain to make the film. Sadly we didn't kept a single one for our Museums and the only one in existence here in Portugal is in fact a 1/1 model!!!!!!!!

You are also a history fan, when someone can wake you up in the middle of the night, and ask for the comparative characteristics of different T-34 tank series... or for a frontline on that and that day... or for a career of a particular capital ship or officer.... or an exact timeline and description of a particular military operation...

Hmm, I wouldn't be an History fan in that particular moment but I am sure the person asking me would know in first hand my Genghis Khan side!!!

all i'm saying is it could be worse, i've heard stories where people have discovered they were being cheated on by their spouse talking in their sleep...

...so she should be glad that all you have to talk about is history!
