Hello,
Yesterday I grabbed a "Molto Holz Schnell-Spachtel", a kind of a furniture fast-drying putty, which should stick to wood, metal and plastics, and dry in 30 mins. A large tube for 5 euro. I instantly applied it to make a landscape for my microproject. However, the stuff is still soft (not as soft as before, but still not hard enough for sanding...), even if about 12 hours have passed. Thickness of the layer is between 0 and 8 mm. Help!

I tried my hands on this stuff too.
Short version: Crap!
Long version: I doesn't work in layers of more than 1 mm. One should use it only for wood. Depending on the wood type it helps to dry it since it sucks out the moisture.
For landscape modelling ask your local model railway dealer. They have great stuff for doing this.

Well, actually, it dried ;o) After about 30 hours, and not minutes. Today in the morning (I applied the stuff friday evening..) it was solid enough to do the sanding and painting.
Next time I shall be more intelligent and fill the landscape with scrap wood or styropore (this time just partial filling, only where a railroad track would go, as a foundation), and then just 1 mm of putty.
I know about model railroading stuff, I have my digital TT-track running from time to time ;o)
