Armor belting

I want to add the armor belts to Tamiya's 1/700 Hood, I'm not sure what would give the best appearance. Jim Bauman suggested using Scotch Tape, which I have to experiment with. Any other suggestions. They appear to taper into the hull on their top edge, so maybe file card and alot of finicky sanding? Anyone have any pet techniques?

Scotch tape for masking and spray putty, I never tested it but someday I should try

I was impressed with this that was posted here the other day. I am not sure how easy it would be on smaller 1/700 DD's and such but it should be doable on larger ships.

I used Evergreen .005 cutted in strips and glued with Testors glue(need to use a little film and be very carefull

As Dino's words, spray putty will easy to contral the thickness. My experience is: don't spray too much in a time, after it get dry, do it 3 or 4 times, then you can wash it or not. The effect will be perfect.
