You can get plans for an AOE at Floating Drydock. Be warned that it is the Vietnam era version you will be getting. You will have to make your own conversions for a modern era AOE.

These are 3 really bad photos of a 1/350 dio I did ten years ago for a friend,I lost the pattern of the Merrimack a "Cimarron" class oiler. It was done with cardboard and GMM photoetc. Anyways will tried again with either a Henry J.Kasier class or a Supply class.

I have the 16th edition of the Ships and Aircraft of the U.S Fleet, so I'll use that as a starting point. Or copy Nektarious.

Thank you all guys.
O.K. i turned 31 yo I just wish that by the time i ll get 40 i ll have realised the 600-ship U.S. navy which is my modelling dream. I m about halfway there. 14 out of 15 CVBGs done, only 3 Iowas have to be built to complete the 4 BBSAGs, most of the subs are done but lots of work is still required for landing and replenishment ships.

Some closeup photos of CV-63. The aircraft have been improved using some starfighter decals left from other CVW sets added to the decals that came from Fujimi sets. After using starfighter decals on some airwings i just feel that all 15 CVWs should look like that.

Happy Belated Nektarios,31yrs is not old try 51 and going down hillfast man.
mine was 2july,anyway I was looking at all of the 1/700 support ships and got very jealous. Tom's Cimarron, your AOE-1 and AE-35 and J Goodarce AOE-3 are very outstanding. So I just looked at some photos of the Henry J. Kaiser class and started making one in 1/350.

Nektarios - What are you up to?
1xSpruance class DD 1/700.
4xTiconderoga class CGs 1/700.
4xArleigh Burke class DDGs 1/700.
4xKidd class DDGs 1/700.
2xOHP class FFGs 1/700.
That's a lot of building you better get busy.. Does this mean the supply ships are on hold?
gtb - looking forward to see the rest of the ship when it's done and thanks for the comments.
I will be posting more progress pictures tonight.

kidcurrie42 - I will start the Cimarron maybe after this kit is finished (or close to being done) I do not think they are ever done in my mind. Please post some pic as you progress. Here are some pics of the progress so far.

I still have the masts, RIBs, the rest of the PE, crew, helo and actual supplies. Does anyone know of a way to produce the cargo nets in this scale?
enjoy John

this is my way of building faster. I believe that (and proved it so far) building 1 ship at once slows you down. As long as you keep building in the same scale, same navy and of course postwar ships which do not have the difficult camouflage of WW II ships this will be helpful. Also sometimes you get tired to build one ship. This way you can switch and build something else till you feel like coming back to the first ship.
The supply ship status is as follows.
AE-35 is finished minus PE. I ve decided to wait for this. So when it becomes available i ll finish it in 4-5 days.
As for Cimarron i ordered it but got unlucky once more in the last month.
I hope this bad luck thing doesn t continue.
Of course as you understand this means war Tom. I m gathering a task force and will attack ASAP.Tom@JAG wrote:John, It's my fault. I'm out of stock of Cimarrons at the moment and can't get Nektarios' to him fast enough.

Well that s impressive so i guess what you re having is called a late life crisis John?kidcurrie42 wrote:Its a Mid life crisis he is going through John, Hey Nektarios why no USS Coral Sea in there ? Cimarron is progressing well.

Coral Sea will be built when i will feel better and be able to concentrate on this project.

It looks great John nice custom made decals too. Try using PE nets for cargo nets. Look at the photo below.J Goodacre wrote:kidcurrie42 - I will start the Cimarron maybe after this kit is finished (or close to being done) I do not think they are ever done in my mind.
