Revell airbrush masking film - destroyed my printer

Post by PetrOs »

Hello,

While trying to print out some masking shapes, I destroyed my Brother HL-1450 Laser printer, or at least made it ready for service center... The sheet seems to have molten in the toner fixing unit...

Update: The printer was not repairable at all (repairs would cost more then the new same one), so I had to get the new color laser printer. Now the color decal fun can begin ;o)

It might be the heat from the laser printer that's making the decal paper melt. You might have to use a regular inkjet printer.

Yeah, it was the heat..
But well, I wanted to get a color laser printer as a replacement for christmas, so got it now... However, one friend of mine told me, he knows how to clean the old one, he did it a few times.. so maybe I will clean up the old one, and then ebay it or so..

They make sheets of decal film for laser printers. Can't think of the brand now. I'll check the next time I'm in the hobby shop.

Well, it was not decal film, it was airbrush masking film. I have done decals with no problems on the old one.

The decal film is made by Bare Metal Foil. You can get it colored or clear for ink jet and laser printers.
