Priming in 1/700

Do you guys use automotive primer when your prime ship models in 1/700?Currently I'am using on my 1/200 soverennemy but I 'am afraid that in 1/700 that the primer will fill in all the deck detail.
Also the primer is Duplicolor sandable.

Gunze's Mr Base White 1000# with its thinner would be better.

Alright thanks but does the Mr.Surfacer 1000 fill in scratches from sanding?

I always use it to check the surface. Any tiny crack can't been hide on the white surface. If you sand some unsmooth place, the covered plastic may be exposed. You should paint it again, not only to check the surface again, but also to make a accordant white base color. Don't sand after last painting. Not a native speaker. Hope you can understand.

I use primer from a can, as long as you don't hold it too close and spray directly you are ok. Catch the model in the edge of the spray so as to not get too heavy a coverage.

Some of the car primers will cause problems when dealing with very fine detail like 1/700 planking. The paint builts up into 'splodges' wich will be very difficult to remove. On surfaces like this use either Gunze of Tamiya super fine.
