USSR Udarnyi

Post by kennylibben »

anyone know anything of the USSR Udarnyi?

I have found a sketch of it and find it to be a very intersting ship, yet i cant find any history on it or any photos.... and not even any more sketches than the one i did find.

Looks like one of the very many river barges modified to carry a tank turret or two which were employed in the later stages of WW.II and after.
If an unfriendly power had attempted to impose on America the mediocre educational performance that exists today, we might well have viewed it as an act of war.

Hi kenny according to Jurg Meister in "Soviet Warships of the second World War" the "Udarnyi" was sunk by German aircraft in the Black Sea on September 18th 1941 close to the island of Tendra with the loss off 66 crew . Hope this helps .

If you can wait for a couple of days, I have Breyer's "Encyclopedia of Soviet shipbuilding" at the other place, and there are suitable drawings in it which I could scan.

hey thanks peppe!

by the looks of it she is WAY too small for 1/144 RC, but she'd make an interesting static build!
