Finnish Submarine camo

Post by urtch »

I'm thinking of building on of Mirage's Type II U-boat kits as the Finnish sub Vesikko. I've found tons of modern photos of the museum, online, but a couple of WWII-era photos in a really distinctive camoflage really caught my eye. Of course, the pictures are small and black & white. Does anybody have color suggestions, or even some good pics of Vesikko during WWII? Also, what modifications would I have to make to backdate a Type IIc or Type IId?

The nearest U boat type to Vesikko was the type IIa with some differences in the conning tower. Pictures of Vesikko in camouflage can be found on http://users.tkk.fi/~jaromaa/Navygallery/index.html and http://u-boat.net/boats/vesikko.htm. I can't say what actual colours were used.
