Ships lines
On a plan of lines for a BB, the data tables are listed as a 3 number entry i.e. 54-11-0. I assume that the first number is a measurement in feet (english system) and the second number is in inches. I don't understand the third number. An additional entry shows as 33-5-31/2 which shoots my theory all to heck regarding the second number being in inches. Could someone shed light on the designations and number measurements in the data table?

If I rember correctly the first number is feet, second is inches, third is tenths of inches. So 33-5-3 1/2 would be 33 feet 5 inches 3 1/2 tenths of an inch. I the last number is a 0 then it would be even on the inch mark.

Re: Ships lines
I saw this thread and had a similar question. On my plans for the USS Ranger Cv-61, I run across numerous notations of the like 01-49-0-Q or 01-64-2-A, ect..
near as I can figure the first number 01 referes to the deck level, the next number 49 referes to the frame number. Sometimes I see something like 01-19-3-V usually the area is marked VOID, so I infer V stands for void. But I don't know what the other numbers or letters mean.

Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!
