Photo etch grade brass

For those of you who do your own photoetching or like to work with brass, where can one find such? I'm particularly looking for BRASS STRIP .010 x .080 inches (.25 x 2 mm) in dimension, perhaps a bit thinner. Length is relatively unimportant.

I've finally run out of all my fine brass that I have had for years and need to restock.

Evergreen makes styrene strip this size and I can find it all day long but brass this small is scarce. Even K&S engineering does not list strip material like this on their site.

Hi I dere say you are in the same predicament as the rest. Many smaller places have closed down & my supplier went belly up this yr.
Fortunatly I buy in 1.2m X 2.4m (4'x8') or larger sheets so I do not have a prob.
You may have to find a engineering shop/ metal workig shop who may have thin brass section they use for shims on well anything.
If all else fails, pm me if you can't get any, or any closer than Oz
can you cut a sheet down to size or do you need it cut?

The engineering company I worked for before retirement used to buy brass shim stock on the roll, about six inches wide and in various thicknesses.

Try Googling "brass shim" - these guys seem to do a good selection http://www.smallparts.com/products/desc ... s/shsb.cfm

Most certainly I will need it cut. I COULD do it myself but I prefer that straight razorsharp machined edge I just cannot duplicate effectively. I work with a lot of thin copper sheeting but to cut symmetrical small strips from it is very very difficult.

a small office guillotine will cut very narrow strips of brass etc, just dont let the boss know what yer up to

This might not be exactly what you want / need, but i get my brass strips (0.15mm wide though) done by FineMolds from Jeff Lin in Taiwan, who runs his own website which carries that, though I'm sure there are other suppliers around somewhere.

You might want to use babelfish (http://babelfish.altavista.com/) to translate his website, cos that's done in chinese, but you can just email him in English to see what else he might have.

HOLY COW..... BINGO!!!

That is EXACTLY what the doctor ordered. The funniest thing about this is that I have a few of their metal truss belts and the perforated "circle hole" belts. Did not realize they made the Plain Belts. I compared them with what I already have and the indicated widths will actually work perfectly for my applications. Looks like I need to grab a wagon full of these sets. Thank you, thank you, and again thanks immensely. You all have saved me from some previously unavoidable major headache sessions.
