magnifiers

For xmas i got a 3 diop lamp magnifier, but it doesnt quite do the job?? , i use 1 eye to focus so loose depth (my finger gets painted and has perminant brass glooed to it

) and it has`nt enought magnification ?
anybody got any advice ??

I got one for Christmas as well- best present ever.

It has taken some getting used to. I've adjusted things so the focus is at the table level while still comfortable- that was the key for me. It took a change of chairs and some adjustment of the work surface height, but once you're set up, productivity goes up while eye strain goes down!

Try an Opti-visor. You can get different magnifications for it. I have one and it works well when I think to put it on. You can get them through Micro-Mark or Model Expo.

I had one of the table mounted magnifiers and had the same problem; my depth perception was shot. I probably could have trained myself to use the thing, but that was when I still had steady income so I chucked it and bought an Optivisor (which I still hardly use, but when I do it works much better for me).

I've used an Optivisor for years. Just got the LED lighting adapter & having such directed lighting helps a bunch. As with any tool, practice, pratice, pratice. Explain that to your spouse as you work on another gem!
