hull sanding techniques

I'm currently working on a 1:350 scale Tamiya Fletcher. The hull has some burrs and lines that should not be there. I am concerned that my sanding process will leave texture issues that will show up later when I paint.

I was just wondering what are the techniques you use to sand and finish a hull. Points to address in your reply should include: types/grains of sandpaper used, filler or putty used, step by step description of your process, etc. Thanks in advance for your replies!

I would think you should be fine using Wet/Dry 400 sand paper wet. Lighly prime and hit it with some W/D 600 if need be (Use a primer like Rustoleum Auto Primer, It is a sandable filler).

Thanks Karsten. Just one question. What's WD 600? I've heard of WD-40, but not WD 600. Excuse my noobieness.
