1/350 and smaller Carrier aircraft Group Build!

Post by Avery Boyer »

Yes that's right, for this GB, we will be doing 1/350 and smaller carrier aircraft! I'm sure almost ALL of us ship builders have some lying around.

The rules, as usual:

-Any time frame, any manufacturer.
-AM OK
-Any scale as long as it's smaller than 1/349
-Time is from Thursday the 20th to Friday the 29th. Yes just NINE days to get it finished. You need only build one.
-Must be unstarted!

This is basically a "filler" until I can think of another good GB.

Participants:

Avery Boyer-1/700 Vought F4U Corsair, USS Franklin 1945.
Masch3-?
PeteM-?
Kidcurrie42-?

Sounds like fun to me. I have both the Dragon Essex and Trumpeter Lexington (both in 1/700) in the stash so when I get home from out of town tomorrow I'll decide which kit I want to do next and chose an a/c from it.

Avery-
Are you on holiday?
How can anyone finish a decent 350th carrier in just nine days. You might as well make a planet in just 7! ;)
If you call a carrier GB that extends as far as 9 months, I'll call in (even though I don't like carriers!)
I'll go now and post another escort picture! :)

Guido,

I think he's talking about building a carrier aircraft, not a whole carrier...

It's far too short. Building a carrier in nine days reminds me of when I started modeling : one carrier per week with a thick coat of paint !
I would have enjoyed this GB, provided it had been far longer.

Tom, you need to re-read the thread, it's to build a carrier aircraft, not a whole carrier...

Oooops, sorry for misreading the title.

Too bad I finished my Rafale M on wednesday, and it is oversized, I would have enjoyed taking part to this GB, but here's a photo :

It's the Revell kit, in 1/144 scale, out of the box. Airbrushed with humbrol enamels, display base made of balsa.
