Are there any really good sources of information out there for SMS Blucher? I have a set of plans on the way but am looking to learn more about the ship.

only references on blucher at mine knowlege are the conway 1860-1906, a russian book (in russian) on the world cruisers and two germans (in german) books:
- die grossen kreuzer kaiserin augusta bis blucher - gerhard koop/klaus-peter schmolke pag 137-156 (with dogger bank)
- grosse krezer der kaiserlichen marine 1906-1918 - axel griessmer pag 19-39
both bernard and graefe verlag edition

Yes, there is another fine source. Try "Warship International No.2 1971". A fine feature article by Paul Schmalenbach on SMS Bl�cher. Four or five pages of text, design and operational history. Some nice photos. If you have trouble buying a copy. Send me a private message and I can arrange to loan you my copy for a little while. Sorry I can't scan it and email it, I'm pretty basic with my computer system here at home.

Hi, are you still looking for reference material for the SMS Blucher, German Armored Cruiser that was sunk in January 1915?
Are you currently building this ship as a model and if, what scale?
What is the source of you plans, if you have any?

The best plans in 1:100 are probably available from the German archives in Freiburg (Bundesarchiv), returned from Russia in the late 1980's. These archives have documentation available that shows this particular ship in its original configuration and modifications that were made prior to its demise and is your best source for the most accurate information.
