Calling all Sovietsky Soyuz, Kronstadt class fans
Greetings to all!
I collect for a long time already the information for construction of models of these ships. Any of the ships of these types has not been completed for various reasons, however in any case they have taken the place in history of the USSR and Russia. I ask all wishing to join.
It is a little history:
1. The linear ships of the project 23, type "Soviet Union", 4 ships in Leningrad, Nikolaev, and Molotovsk are put in pawn.
- "Soviet Union"
- "The Soviet Russia"
- "The Soviet Ukraine"
- "The Soviet Belarus"
Are not completed.
2. Heavy a cruiser of the project 69 (69I) type "Kronstadt", 2 units in Leningrad and Nikolaev are put in pawn.
- "Kronstadt"
- "Sevastopol"
Are not completed.
3. Heavy a cruiser of the project 82 type "Stalingrad", 2 ships in Leningrad, Nikolaev are put in pawn.
- "Stalingrad"
- "Moscow"
Are not completed.

They are actually "almost were"s. Which means they are backed by a lot of engineering work. This makes them considerably more interesting than fanciful "never were"s.

Ok Chuck; I refer to another forum about warship not finnished
http://www.phpbbplanet.com/forum/index. ... ipprojects
The english name of this forum is "never were warships", so I say "never were warships" to projected ship , but not finished:
I am naval engineer, I design ships, some warships, and I know the long time and effort to design a ship, specially a warship.

Interresting Topic.
I like also Russian NeverWere
I have scratchbuilt 4 of them -1/700WL
BC Borodino
BB Kostenko
BB Putilov
& the sucessor of Sovietsky Soyouz, the Type 24
I have in project
BB Revel (45 000T - 4T4x16")
& the last BB laid down, BC Stalingrad, a superb BC

Great subjects and seldom modelled. I've never seen any of the Sovietsky Soyuz or the Sovietskaya battleships at 1:100 scale. I note that the Sovietskaya Ukraina was almost 75% complete in 1941. Keep us posted on your progress?

I am sorry, BB Kostenko, BB Putilov is that? You have in view of non-realised projects of the linear ships about 406 mm artillery of 1914, Putilovsky factory and designer Kostenko?Jefgte wrote:Interresting Topic.

Battleships type "Soviet Union" were the project 23. The project 24 has been developed much later taking into account operations in the Second World War and existed only on a paper.

I am afraid, that here you are not right. For June, 22nd, 1941 technical readiness battleship "Soviet Ukraine" made 17,5 %, technical readiness battleship "Soviet Union" - 21,14 %, "the Soviet Russia" - 5,04 %. Building battleship "the Soviet Belarus" has been stopped by then also it has been disassembled on a building berth.Dave Wooley wrote:Rurik_II wrote:Scale 1:100

To inform I certainly I will. I was not defined yet with scale of "Soviet Union", it will be possible 1:200. Drawings are fulfilled in two variants 1:100 and 1:200.

Putilov & Kostenko are shortway.
Revel too, really, that's "Russo Baltic Shipyards in Revel".

As I can remember, Project 24 was studied for counter Montana class

Stalingrad is a beautiful ship, hope Combrig finally does their 1/700 waterline model of her.

Re: Calling all Sovetskiy Souz, Krondshtadt Class fans
As far as I know, Combrig is alive and kicking
Here is a list of their current projects:
1/350
- Bayern (master-model is nearly complete)
- Baden
1/700
- Hood (master-model is in works)
- Majestic (master-model is in works)
- Canopus (master-model is in works)
- Evstafy (master-model is in works)
- Huascar (casting)
- Edgar Quinet (master-model is in works)
- Seydlitz (master-model is in works)
Stalingrad was announced, but it has not been cancelled, so let's hope that the model will be with us sometime.

Hope this is untrue about Combrig, I thought they were selling their stuff like crazy. They fill a good quality/cost slot in the modelship building world, and tackle important subjects.

The correct wrighting (in english) of these ships names are:
SOVIETSKY SOYUZ
and
KRONSHTADT
