Drawings for HMS Gotland
Hello
Most retired swedish warships are included in the collections of the swedish archives of war (Sw. Krigsarkivet) in Stockholm. Their homepage with contact details is:
http://www.statensarkiv.se/default.asp?id=6412
However, I know that the Naval Museum in the city of Karlskrona (Swedish Naval port) has had a set of drawings in their Museum shop.
Their homepage together with contact details is:
http://www.marinmuseum.se
receptionen.marinmuseum@maritima.se (e-mail to their reception)
If this set is still available, it pictures the HMS Gotland as an aircraft carrying cruiser, or in her state she was in as she spotted the Bismark.
She was later rebuilt as an anti-aircraft cruiser.
With the hope that this will help.
Wth best regards
Fredrik

Thanks!
Well I'm looking for plans of GOTLAND as it was aircraft carrier/cruiser... so thank you for links...
Do you maybe know how does Swedish War Archive in Stockholm works? What I mean is: Is it possible to copy plans from their archives for some normal price? I'm asking that because I'm also interested in Swedish Pansarskepps - SVERIGE and DROTTNING VICTORIA...

Hi again.
The Krigsarkivet (KrA) do agree to make copies of drawings.
I know that drawings are possible to get on CD. The price do not know, however. They do speak English if you call them. Ask for the research room (Sw. Forskarsalen). They should be able to help you.
Regards
Fredrik

There was an article in Warship International 1976 (Vol.13) No.3 called "The Three Faces of GOTLAND". I don't have it myself so can't comment on its contents, but I'm sure I've seen a reference to it containing plans.
It should be useful in any case; how many references for Swedish cruisers exist in the English language?

Ahoy,
Have you obtained plans of this ship? I too am interested in scratch-building a model of her.

None of my business, really but her configuration as an aircraft-carrying cruiser is perhaps my favorite of the three roles she played. The nearest equivalent to her might be the late-war Mogami.
Interesting choice of ships, one of several noteworthy neutral warships of her day.

Re: Swedish cruiser GOTLAND - wooden deck?
Had Gotland a wooden deck as shown in the model at http://avrosys.nu/aircraft/Spaning/208S9.htm? The model does not show the cruiser's deck sheer so must be unofficial.

Re: Swedish cruiser GOTLAND
Marc, thank you for your kind offer of the 1976 Warship Intl article. I recently bought that edition from a bookseller in Germany. Have you Warship Intl editions 2/1977 and 3/1977? Those have comments about Gotland that I have not seen.
The 1976 article is sine qua non. Accurately modelling Gotland would be impossible without it.
I have fabricated the first PE parts for this 1/700 model. For the hull I am kit-bashing another ship. The adapted model hull now features the deck sheer.
Your English is fine and is better than that of many my countrymen for whom it is their primary language. President Bush, for instance:

Your English is fine and is better than that of many my countrymen for whom it is their primary language. President Bush, for instance:
His utterance, taken literally, indicates that he does not consider himself American. On that point, everyone can agree with him."Losing a job is painful and I know Americans are concerned about our economy. So am I," Bush said during a hastily arranged White House appearance on the heels of a gloomy government economic report. (March 7, 2008)

Swedish cruiser GOTLAND
I have placed photographs of Gotland at Calling All Swedish Navy Fans, and ask about her deck colors.
