Hi All
It has been a little while since I posted last.
I am in the "Doldrums" As far as the bismarck is concerned. I call it the doldrums because you can do a lot of work and have little to show for it.
I have started planking the deck which will involve over a thousand feet of planking. I am also putting the Superstructure together. I am also making fittings at the same time because you cannot "margin plank" without the fittings.
There is also detail that I have been able to put on a of this scale model that you will not see on other Bismarcks simply because the detail is too small to be practicable on smaller scales.
I will do a few updates over the next week or so.

Hi All Continued.
There are a couple more showing the begining of the deck planking.
The last image shows the riveting going all the way round the ship. This attached the deck to the hull on the real Bismarck. There is another angle attached to the deck a little further in. This channel created made the scuppers. The deck was then margin planked and the decking laid up against that. There are over 46,000 rivets.

the admiral used on the iron duke and other UV77 CLEAR SATIN ( blackfriar ) exterior varnish also used on my scharnhorst

I know EXACTLY how you feel!

I've still got planking to slap on the Dreadnought. It's such a slow process - but the end result (as yours is looking) is really worth it, I think. You've made a lovely job of it.

I am using "PVA for outdoors."It is user friendly and has a quick drying time.

I have copied what you have shown on the original bismarck drawing.
It is nice to see that I have got it right. The width of the scupper is a reassuring measurement as I guessed it to be around 300mm. As you are aware information as far as sizes of fittings etc can be a bit thin on the ground.

Do you have much information on Bismarck?

Hi All

These photos show the superstructure after building sections of it up. It needs constant adjustment as it is put together because the deck is raised. Each time something is added a new stress is created that needs to be relieved.
Then there is the filing and sanding to remove excess solder. Some parts are silver soldered and some parts are soft soldered.

I have hard time imagining a 6 foot long superstructure!

Great job so far on assembling the first level of the structure. It looks challenging in the extreme but the end result will be awesome for sure.
