Stirring Paint or Paint shaker

maybe I'm getting old but I find getting a good mix with enamel type paints by stirring is just too tedious. I mostly use acrylics but for some jobs you have to break out those WEM tins. Well, I found a really cheap paint shaker. You know those stupid electric knives that everybody seems to have (or if you don't the local thrift store will have dozens of them for a buck or two), they make great cheap paint shakers. Just take off one blade, cut down the other to the length of a large perscription bottle with an easy off cap, dull or flatten the edge, tape the bottle to the stump of the blade and you have a paint shaker that works GREAT. For the WEM tins (insert three or four BBs or small ball bearings into each tin as agitators) then I put them in the bottom of the Rx bottle, I then put in a tissue and a styrofoam plug to keep it from turning or rattling around and shake for a few minutes. Easy and cheap! Not to mention results I could never get by stirring.

This is one of the most original ideas I�ve seen for quite some time!. I�ve gotta seize the electric knife my mom got at her home and give it a try.

Thanks William You just gave me a BRILLIANT idea for a paint shaker/mixer:

plastic block + CNC machine on campus + dremel + BBs= paint mixer! Ehh... maybe on a low RPM.
