Hello All , I hope yall have been good, if not I trust you were good at it. :lol_1: Well since I've had a good bit of trouble with the railings, and I've been getting ready to start school on thursday, taking tests and all that jazz. I really haven't had a lot of time to work, but here is what I have done since last update.

I marked the out line of the superstructure , and painted under the area of the funnels

and here is the deck just after glueing

and 3 shots of the main forward super

Tell me what you think, oh as for the forward gun tubs, They are just taped in place to give an idea of their placement, of course fading the bottoms into the hull is mandated .
A couple of quick questions, First has anyone else experienced extremely long period of time to upload pics to photobucket ?
Second ; Would the railings be painted the same as the camouflage in that section or would be just regular ship gray ? I was thinking that that small of an object surely wouldn't be visible from just about any distance.
Take care and have a good day. :jump_1:

Hiya,
Well it is certainly looking impressive, one thing i definetely would change is the position of the SK-2 radar, placement at the moment would render it virtually useless, i estimate it would give you somewhere in the region of 220-240 degree of coverage in its present position, where in the case of the SK you are virtually getting a full 360 coverage, personnaly i would position the SK-2 aft of the funnels and same height as the SK. as for the railings, i would go one color.

Looking forward to your next update, hope Exams are going well :thumbs_up_1:

Happy modeling

Kid ;( is alright to abbreviate your name that way , if not I'll stop the shortcut ) Thanks for the advice , I do have a second SK-2 that I was going to add on the aft super , so I could get the whole range of this radar , Would that Be alright or should I just do away with the forward one , The thing I was worried about with it was trying to see through it or around it , because the upper bridge is just behind it and think it would cause for some sight seeing problems .

Kid is fine :) if you are placing an SK-2 aft then the forward one isnt needed, the higher the radar the longer range you will get, have you considered just using two SK-2 and retiring the SK ?

Keep it going, maybe i will give my North Carolina a Mid Life Update :heh:

Kid ; I did think of that , but I thought that if I had 2 of every radar one at each end of the ship it would have a back up system just in case of a hit to one of the main radars , more or less a back up system .

Yes i see the reasoning, however a thing to be aware of ............. Power most of your weapons and sensors are big power munchers, big search radars require lots of power, also with either two SK or two SK-2 lose one and you would still get the same coverage, maybe a slight blind spot of 3-4 degrees, a slight weave in course would enable a full radar picture in this case.

And that, that would be why I would hate to do 1/350... all the insane details on it, all the fidgety little parts... granted 700 still has those, but there's less of them. Beautiful work, man, really comes out nicely.

I say that's a nice putty job, though you could have saved yourself some work and taken it off with an exacto or the like, thus avoiding cutting too far...

Thanks again Sauragnmon ; For some people the exacto knife would be the method of choice , but for me it's way to tedious of a job for , so I took the dremel and ripped it all out in about 5 minutes , and the putty didn't take all that long

Very nice work so far and your building abilities are excellent.

I have a proposal for you, if you want to take it into consideration. I think that the funnels are way too German-like. Since you are intending to use the platform you have built for aa gun enplacemetns and other fittings why dont you build a block house in the middle part of your superstructure insted of having your two funnels and use onle the part that is above your platform. Furthermore, why not place the for funnel a little more forward than it is and much more close to your bridge superstructure, almost adjacent to it. This way it will look much more usnavy-like funnel structure and a blockhouse structure to temper with. :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

This is something like what I mean. Forgive my skills with the paint programme. But I think you will get the idea...

I agree re the funnels, and also am wondering where you intend to put the fire control radars?

Looks very nice so far! :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

I thank all of you for the advice , I made a quick mock up with cardboard just to see how it looks , and I think I'm going ahead with what GTDEATH13 suggested but I don't think I'm going to move the funnel forward , I kind of like it's position . But here are some pics of the mock-up let me know what you think.
