I herewith post the status quo of my 1/350 model as of 3 days ago--been working on it since then and making progress!

I am hoping to have her completed in about 3-4 weeks or so

It will be a detailed build article.....

Sorry to disillusion you Graham.....

But ....

I have given the officers their epaulet's etc and there is discernible shading etc etc

my chaps are from l'arsenal with the odd Goffy figure

I actually found it easier to break arms and legs off-and re-arrange their gait and stance and move heads to get a larger variety of poses than clean up all the flash on the Goffy figures!!!

It is a rolled awning of some kind

I have not actually ascertained exactly HOW it was rolled......

but have replicated to the best of my abilities as to how I believe it looked

But I digress--this is a figure thread!!!

Once again we are treated to a masterpiece by Jim. It looks totally lifelike.

I think one of the sailors actually has a shoelace undone. Better fix that Jim before the poor guy gets hurt.

I can identify with any evidence the sailor sitting second from left is not up with the seasonal uniform standards... could you please fix this significant failure?

Hi Stefano--thank you for showing me the potential error of my ways!

I have checked carefully--all lower ranks now have bare arms...!!

anyhow--onwards with the final parts of the build

I am now doing the final fiddly parts--while awaiting my custom made 1/350 Littorio deck rails.... ���....

but--wait and see they WILL be worth it!!!

I am now detailing upper masts, fairleads and chocks, boat tiedown eyes ...

i am thinking of modeling vittorio veneto class in 1/192 or 1/200 depends on what plans are availible,do not know which one yet, i am collecting info and was wondering if all 3 ships had the same small aa guns,the reason i ask is some pics show different guns on the bow, are they 20mm or 37mm,this pic looks like 20mm orkilons also i have heard roma had differant hull shape in the bow area.any info greatly appreciated.

Yes, Roma had a longer and higher bow then the other two. Roma's stem was straight, while her sister's were slightly curved. Also, IIRC, Roma was fitted with only two anchors at the bow, one on each side, while her sisters had 3 anchors, 2 on the starboard side, 1 on port.

I also seem to recall Roma's bulbous forefoot was less blunt than those on the other ships. The bulbs on the other two ships were apparently too blunt and caused vibrations at speed.

thanks guys,plans i ordered are not here yet ,they are supposed to be of vittorio veneto ,i will check closely to see if bow is v.v or roma. seeing i haved finished jean bart i am trying to figure out light a.a guns,i would like to start building some but can,t seem to find good pics or drawings of them.is there anybody out there also building vittorio veneto class in1/200 or 1/192 it would be nice to follow along with other builders.
