Hey Everyone, just finished a new document and figured I'd post it here a little early, given the Battle 360 show.
I found a 17 page Interview with Enterprises Air Operations Officer Lt. H.B. Harden in early 1943 and have posted it here. There's not a lot of reference material for ship modelers, but there is for aircraft modelers, and I find it of historical interest in general, personally. The comments have some additional info and I'll add more as I can.

First addition: Harden later became CO of Air Group 1, which was attached to CV-20 Bennington in June of 1945.

Tracy: I think that you might want to contact Joel Shepherd, webmaster at cv6.org, regarding this. Let me know by e-mail (mathsenr@oru.com) if you would like Joel's e-mail addy.

Or if you could for me; I actually did about two weeks ago when I first started and had a couple pages posted but never heard back; I suspect my e-mail was spam filtered out.

Thanks! I was (and may still) going to post on the message boards next, but we'll see what he may want first.

Hmm. The comment that the AA fire of all types was interrupted for an appreciable interval after a 1000 pound bomb hit ties with a report in Friedman's new book about the necessity of re-synchronizing the "selsyn" devices aboard Japanese ships when shifting from one controller to another, or from local control. This basically requires all guns be turned the same direction and angle while all the connections are made, and can take several minutes in the best of circumstances.
If an unfriendly power had attempted to impose on America the mediocre educational performance that exists today, we might well have viewed it as an act of war.

That's cool, I may add that in as a comment; my take would be then that the bomb made the selsyn inoperative and they had to switch to local control.
