I need to speak after seeing your mega bb. I love the camo but the front radar blocks both guns, bridge.
Bad situation.

I thin that using cardboard is a fantastic idea so as to se what is coming out... Very nice.

May I be excused if I make two more suggestions?

First of all you need a main fire control radar. Why not make something like the one I sketched in the picture. Furthermore, as Duncan and Avery quoted, the round radar blockw the bridge and the AA guns for of it. Since you have a radar atop the "pyramid" why not scatle it???

The second suggestion is something about all the extra platforms you have put. They need something to provide support under them. Try making ?-shaped nerves under them. It is something from a "structural" point of view and nothing more.

You are an amazing scrutchbuilder. I envy you... :wink_1: :wink_1: :worship_1:

yeah Death, that radar would frie the gunners brains.

Radar is used to watch over us, on top of the ship.
The platform could use another AAA nest to blast enemy fighters to kingdome come.
Or a missile launcher, a special V-3 Kriegsmarine variant.

Good luck with the project Dewd

Looks pretty cool, I like the way the blockhouse turned out... coming along pretty nicely.

now where are you going to put the the Ships Cranes for the lifeboats?
Will the Gunturrets/machinenests blocking their gunsight due to the crane?

I was thinking of hanging them from underneath the round overhangs on the upper platform by the funnels, and they would fold inward towards each other , but i have some sad news ( atleast for myself ) I just accepted a job to go OTR ( over the road ) so i won't beable to build that much any more , of course i will continue to build but at a much slower pace , since my home time is going to be 36-48 hrs a week , and since most of my home time will be spent with my daughter , that doesn't leave a lot of room for building , but i was thinking of making a mobile build station of sorts . I think this will allow for more time spent on a particular piece since i won't beable to take along the whole model.

hello again all,it's been way to long, but i've been busy moving, quiting that job i first took and getting use to the new house, but i'm back modelling and i'll still be on the road 3-4 days a week with the job i did take but i'll still have plenty of time to model, :woo_hoo: but i have a problem i hope that all of you could help with.
i have a problem with were i'm going to put the cranes to launch the launches,i put the outer shelf above the twin 5" guns so i can't put the cranes as i wanted ( folding inward ), so i hope i could get some suggestions from all of you. i thank you and have a good day.

oh by the way if anyone has tried to email me or get in touch with me ,my computer has been dead for the past 2 weeks so i'm not being rude by not responding,i just didn't know

i worked a bit last night ,and came up with this ,i know that it still needs to be refined but i think the idea is sound,in the pics you can see that the life boat is under the end of the crane well thats going to be removed and the boom will tuck up next to the superstructure close to the rounded edge just behind the 11" guns ,and the right end of the crane will not have that upward projection on the completed mock up,due to it's in the way of the 5 " swing, but any suggestions or comments are as always welcomed and appreciated.

Looks pretty nice, even if you eliminate some of the potential forward/backward angling on the 11" turrets. You could do a joint-armed crane from forward of the fire director as well, that folds into place against the side... it might eliminate your problems with eliminating turret sweep. Or else, bring the crane in closer to the structure, in the notch right behind the mounted 5" turret. have it lift up from the gap and sit flat along the decking for storage, have the A-frame for the cable fold flat in place to move flush under the gun barrels. That would have your setup a little smoother, and you could have the arm long enough to pick a boat up off the boat house behind the 20mm gallery.

thanks sauragnmon for the advice ; I think the place you were talking about would get in the way of the high angle guns just beside the aft gun director , if i'm wrong about that please tell me so., but this is what i've gotten done today and yesterday with the boats and the crane , thanks to all of you for your suggestions on the boat covers :worship_1: , i went with the white glue and paper towel method and found it quit easy to pull off. :thumbs_up_1:

and just a quick pic of the supports under the forward overhang

hello again all of my fellow fine accurate miniature replica builders, I thank yall for the good reviews , and you could say that i'm not to worried about any treaty :heh: I have a question for yall today , i've been working on the midship section some more and can't help but think that i'm missing some of the goodies that you would find on that part of the ship . so my question is what am i missing , also does the extra boat above the twin 5" look out of place ?

I don't know, it does but doesn't... Either way it's a good project coming along so far.

Not sure why but, to me, the boat above the 5 incher does look a little odd. . .

Mabye it the lack of mounting hardware, mabye just beacause of where it's at, I dunno

Then again I think DD-X looks stupid
