Calling all Tarantul-class (Молния) corvette fans

Post by Neptune »

OH so you are just posting them all at once just to make us believe you make this speed :thumbs_up_1:  I wonder where Pieter van Buren is lately, he normally builds them as fast as we can look at them, but now it's been a while since I saw something from him.
Here's something "new", it's the Palash gun, finally being tested, a logical advance as they want to put two of these systems on their new 8,000t frigate! Fitted on a Tarantul, same as they did with Kashtan in the past.

Since we're on the topic of Tarantuls, just wanted to share a little research. Here are some structural mods I plan on making to the Innex kit (1/400). I realize the plans say 1241.1 (T-II, IIRC), but compared to pics of the real thing (courtesy of Neptune) I don't see any real structural differences. BTW, deletions are in yellow, additions are in red. Pls ignore the thin red lines across the deck - reference lines that shifted when I started pushing pixels.

HTH someone else.

Thanks for the plans Roel!

No haven't found ANYTHING on Chilikin yet... I do have my own plans partially finished by now, but they are not really good I think. I'll keep looking though, maybe even ask Arnold if he has this type of drawings of Chilikin too (now that I come to think about that).

Some know a few words of English, but most of them don't. I generally try to either translate myself or just ask some Russian friends of mine to translate it (although "Torpedo hatch" doesn't seem to be a commonly known word in Russian :lol_pound: )

You've been silent Andrey, spending more time on building? Or strengthening the house for typhoon season?

I enjoy time with my family! :thumbs_up_1:

I haven't build any ship for 3 month since Drozd. Makarov stays 50% done. I'm not in a mood of model building at this moment. And yes I was doing a lot of work on my house. :lol_1: I finally replaced trim on my chimney ( 2 story house  . ) and now it is a painting time :woo_hoo:

More Soviet Photos

Sorry for the late reply on this post, but as we say, better late than ever :)
Here's some of my photos of a Surveillance my ship took in 1989, during the cold war:
Marshal Ustinov 088, Admiral Makarov 659, Kresta II 959

With the exception of the Kresta II all the other ships are in boxes waiting for the right moment to "attack" them - in a very near future.
If anyone needs these images in higher resolution, please ask.

Cheers and thanks for a great Thread! :)

Hi,
I am looking for photos showing the underside of Tarantul I for my INS Veer build. If anyone has any photos or drawings that they would like to share, it will be very helpful.

Thanks,
Prasanna.

Hi, here you have some stuff.

I thought I had already sent you that. Anyway, I remember I have more pics, but probably on my other computer. These are resized also, I'll send you the originals if I dig up the others too.

This is a Tarantul III, although I don't think they actually changed anything on the hull of the different sub classes. The other pictures I have are from a Tarantul I, with a front view too if I remember correctly. I also have plans of the Tarantul hull, although it's a bit late for that I guess
