Flight Deck Tie Downs-Nimitz class

What is the best way to paint (including color) the flight deck tie downs on the USS Nimitz class?
I have the trumpy 1:350 Nimitz class and i've painted the whole deck with flight deck gray already.

If you are building a late Nimitz class ship then I would'nt bother painting them at all. I'm building a late Nimitz and have decided that the tie downs would be much too prominate if painted. As they are they look more "subdued" which is desirable to me.

It's dicey if you are building an earlier nimitz class with white tie-downs because Trumpster molded these tie-downs WAY oversize.

The Trumpeter's tie-down are HUGE as compared to what they should be. I am actually wondering is I will not putty them on my 1/700 model...

On this one you can barely see the tie-downs and imagine how close you would need to be on a 1/350 model to have this image...

Hi,

Paint your flight deck, and then do a wash with a lighter or darker color, so the tie down pads will reveal.

I am doing the USS Ronald Reagan and advises well taken.
I will just go ahead and continue the flight deck process.

Often times, the tie downs were painted the same color as the flight deck. Consider not painting them different at all..I didn't, and I have the pictures to back it up..
