Nice DDG, Nektarios!

My DDG-102 is next on my slipway; after my Iowa is done. I'm going to experiment with the railings that angle back towards the superstructure and scratch build some Nuklas launchers.

DDG-89 The first of the class withthe stealthy stack. It was built without any CIWS but one was later added aft.

This ship belongs to Desron 15 and is homeported in Yokosuka Japan.

Mmmmmm DDG fever!!

I got the parcel you sent me this morning Nektarios, so I now have a rathe good stash of various RN/NATO spares for my Projects, thanks.

The surprise you sent was rather pleasing as well-a Pegasus Class Hydrofoil. It will go nicely with the Russian FAC's that John is sending me.

There will be an update on Gold Rover soon.

I m glad they will be used. If i knew earlier i wouldn t have thrown away at least 6 more of these sprues.

Some DDG-91 photos. This is the variant with the remote minehunting system. Other differences include thereposisioning of the torpedo tubes and the different RHIB arrangement.

This ship is part of Desron 23.

If you ve got this variant you may build any of the Flight IIA ships upto DDG-98. For later units you must replace the OE-82s with USC-42s.

It's actually a real good idea. I look forward to seeing more of your work! I've been working on some DDGs myself, but haven't gotten around to building much lately.

Nektarios, great pictures! Could you perhaps recommend a good PE set which offers good flight deck safety nets? Which ones did/do you use?

Hi,

momentanely I build the corvette "Magdeburg F 261" of the Federal German Navy. Because I live in Magdeburg it wasn't a hard choice, which of the 5 corvettes of the class K130 (Braunschweig-class) I want to build.

There is no kit available of the ship, because the ship was put into service on 22.09.2008. So it's a very new ship.

I started the project months ago in february 2008, when the ships should be already in service, but there were much complications with the technique, so maybe I was one of the first modellers who began to built ships of this class.

I scratch the ship of 0,5mm and 1mm plasticsheet. Several parts (e.g. 76mm gun or small boats) I took from Dragons Weapon sprue.

If you have questions, ask me, I will try to answer them.

I am becoming a huge fan of stealthy warships. At the beginning i didn t like them but it seems i got used to them and they now seem pretty to my eyes. They aren t like as pretty as a CFA or Coontz class DDG but they really have something.

I'm somewhat warming to them too, Nektarios, but I still don't quite like them. Their sleek and clean lines are all well and fine, especially if they lack oddball angles that just don't look like they should be there... but What can I say, I will always have a soft spot for the traditional style "Wear the armament on your sleeve" style of warship, where all the weapon mounts are standing out there, plainly visible, giving the ship a more aggressive look. I've learned to appreciate some of the aspects of carriers and stealthy warships, but I'm sorry, I'll always have a soft spot for the battleships. Big guns are just my thing.

I'm actually a big fan of "stealthy" ships. I like the slick and angled surfaces which have now become a trademark of advanced weapon systems, I suppose. Battleships will definitely always remain impressive but while the big guns on past ships were the more obvious way to intimidate, I like the fact that today's ship are more...subtle. Of course, the downside to that is that most ships that use stealth technology all start looking alike nowadays.

Speaking of stealthy ships, I thought I'd post a few pics of my (not so stealthy) Kirov cruiser. I think the Russians were amongst the first who implemented some stealth-like features to parts of their ships. The funnel design on the Kirovs might be an example. Here's my take on the Admiral Ushakov. Some decals and other details are still missing.

I also like big guns Sauragnmon but i can t just build everything there are some limits(time mainly). The first warships i ever built were battleships. I was really in love with them but then i read about the 600-ship plan of the U.S. Navy.

You know the rest....

And Stealthy ship kits are really easily buildable. I built the TTH DDG-1000 in just 3 days.

Very nice Kirov, Orb - Trumpeter, right? Those AK-630's don't look like the Pitroad/DML ones that I've seen and handled. Also, the dishes look different between the two Eye Bowl sets on the forward section. I'm looking to build my own Kirov in due time, with a few modernizations. Very well done though.

Nektarios, I know how it feels - my first builds were big-gun ships. I still have a number of warships in build that are big-gunners, and more big-gunners on the way.

Nice Orb of all the modern warships I would like in 1/350 it's the Kirovs class. Nektarios still a master at 1/700.

Thank you guys! Being on the forum, reading and seeing pictures of some of your builds has definitely helped me improve my building. I really appreciate it all the tips and tricks that I got.

Nektarios, would be great to meet you in person, but I'm afraid I live in a totally different region. I live in North Rhine-Westphalia, near Cologne.

Sauragnmon, yep, it's a Trumpy. I really liked the kit and there weren't too many things that needed fixing. Would be interesting to compare it to one of DML's Kirovs.
