My barrels are 3mm too, long!

I followed the "20mm" dimension that CLIPPER provides with their barrels and blast bags and they are 3mm too long.

If I try to push the barrels farther into the turret, the taper ridges aren't correct. If I did this, I'd have to cut the blast bags back.

The Trumpeter kit has them correct at 17mm from the front edge of the turret to the tip of the barrel.

I'm going to try and put the plastic kit barrels on my JAG turrets, instead.

Holy Hell, Carl, does that red make those gun barrels stand out.

As to them being 3mm too long, that's interesting... makes me wonder if they might not be more suited to a German project, as the Germans were going for 52cal barrels. Still, no harm no foul. I should be getting my stuff soon to work on the N3 some more, and I picked up two projects worth putting in here eventually, an ARII Ticon and an ARII Sprucan - they both seem to be well made, even if the lines are raised, the detailing is spectacular, and they do come with the option of building in either VLS or arm-launcher configuations. I got these on the cheap through a guy I met on another board, who's clearing out a bunch of stuff. From what I've seen, the Arii models appear to be built differently if I recall for the superstructure build, so you might find a benefit in the deck construction with the proper gap present.

Carl this must become a little frustrating for you. Improving the fighting top area and having the superglue problem. Now trying to improve the kit with aftermarket barrels,they are too long...

What was the superglue problem? I don't remember. If it was too, painful............don't tell me.

I'm currently assembling the kit's 16" turrets and barrels.

Would you like to have the JAG 16" turrets with the too, long barrels? I can send them to you. They are fully assembled. I have puttied between the blast bags and turret. And one of them is fully painted.

Thanks for sparing me the pain, Nektarios.

After looking at my propeller pattern screw up (no pun intended), there are actually only two of the four that are wrong. I got lucky, there, huh? One inboard and one outboard props are actually correct.

I'll break the blades off the wrong ones for more room to maneuver my clippers and use my sprue clippers to cut them off flush with the struts, then put the new ones on.

Could very well do for illustrating the new model Full Bore 16 gun barrels, with a new extended barrel for even better range. Very very handy indeed. I have all six VLS I plan to mount on the hull now, and the 5" turrets you provided before, plus the AEGIS plates from Nektarios. A little of the good old PSR, some elbow grease, a little cursing and swearing, and she should be good to go. You boys won't recognize the Mo when I'm done!

Sauragnmon, now that sounds interesting...looking forward to seeing the result!

6x 61 cell VLS is my plan. I'm going to rebuild the aft structure with two replacing the Sea Sparrow ABLs, two replacing the Tomahawk ABLs angled outward, another sitting in the center between them, and one replacing each engine stack. Engine replacement with nuclear reactors, ending the problem of operating cost for those big old boilers. With the too-long-for-normal gun barrels I can pass them off as the refined Full-Bored guns as per a stage-1 HAARP gun design, except nine tubes. Single 5" guns as per Ticonderoga replacing the old 5" 38cal twins, boasting improved ammo handling, accuracy and range. I figure it should definately look different, especially with the six AEGIS plates.

Yeah, she promises to be interesting, the Mightier Mo. longer gun barrels, single 5" guns, Ticon 61-cell VLS, both angled and flat, AEGIS... should be quite interesting indeed. Arsenal Ship eat your bloody heart out.

I am sorry. JAG does not make 1/545 16" Turrets. There are 1/700 only.

I, myself, do not know if anyone makes them in 1/545.
