I just got it today and its a fine publication if you ask me the only setback it has is the language barrier since all is written in japanese ( except for some #s and a couple words). i don't own the Gakken 21 however From some pictures ive seen in the past i could say unlike its predecessor this new edition gives a better coverage on all 4 Kongo class battleships, there are some beautiful diagrams and pictures pertaining to all 4. it's great seeing all 4 pagoda and rear structure diagrams next to each other it really helps a lot to understand how significantly different they were from each other. In addiction, the Kongo and Haruna models from volume 21 and even a 1/200 scale Kirishima can be seen on 2 pages, getting all these scales together was a great idea IMO. The 1/100 scale Hiei is phenomenal, shots were taken from all angles and there are plenty of close- ups all over the ship. If any of you guys here didn't get to buy volume 21 now is the chance to buy something perhaps even better, dont think it twice guys these books sell awfully fast.
