New Flower Class Corvette Modelling Book is out

Post by starshell »

Not sure if everyone is already aware of this one but Seaforth Publishing have a new book out on the Flower Class Corevttes by John Lambert and Les Brown http://www.pen-and-sword.co.uk/?product_id=1645. It is available from Pen & Sword Books in the UK or via Amazon. I have a copy and it looks very useful for modellers if they do not already have any of the standard books on Flower Class Corvettes. Quite a lot of the plans appeared in Lambert's previous volume on the corvettes in the Warship Perspectives series, or were alternatively available via his website, so there doesn't appear to be much new here, it is just that they are more easily accessible now. Most of the photographs have also been published elsewhere and there is a distinct bias toward RCN corvettes. Its nice to see Bob Pearson's colour profiles appear in a substantial publication, but again, like the engineering plans, many of these were previously available on his website so there isn't a lot of new info.

The section with the most new info. is in fact the chapter on the various models and accessories available. There are some stunning photos of complete models here.

Overall, this volume is useful if you have no other standard references on the corvettes and haven't visited John Lambert's or Bob Pearson's websites, but if you have then this book will have very little new information for you except for the chapter specifically on the various models.
