I'm still plugging away at detailing my second modern Iowa kit. (1/700 Skywave / Trumpeter) I'm trying to stay with one kit at a time. I feel that if I take a break from this one and get into something else, I'll lose interest in it.

None of the superstructure and turrets subassemblies are permanently attached, yet. I just, yesterday, noticed an area that I had to cut out, putty, sand and repaint on both sides just forward of the most forward 5" turrets. I'll now add a small piece of decking there and add a small door that goes into the base of the turret foundation and then add an inclined ladder, later.

I took the photo to compare the ocean effects between them and the differences in ocean colors that I have used.

Beautiful work! The wakes are very convincing.

Except for the white-capped breakers, you could almost imagine that they are steaming in formation! (Me, personally, I'd dispense with the crossing whitecaps. Kinda makes it look like they're crossing the surf line and about to go aground!)

That is a very good point! Too, close to shore it looks like, doesn't it? One of them has the waves really too, close together to make look wrong.

The one with the two ships on it, I don't like at all, really. I was trying to hide the seam between the two sheets of plastic water effect.

Well, my USS Sampson DDG-102 is almost done. About 85% I'd say.

The larger resin pieces are requiring quite a bit of cleaning up, but I think its going to turn out really nice. The PE sprue is pretty nice, I think. I was tickled when I saw the flying bridge awning on the PE sprue and the stack grates, too! I drilled the portholes a little deeper.
