Hello Peter, I love that ship, and when I first built it, I never believed that I did her justice, I asked a question, that still hasn't been answered, saw your post and thought I would ask again, on the (excuse me as I call it) back stack where there's a platform with search lights, how did the crew actually access this, obviously on my model, there's no lader or door that would suggest access ws gained from inside the chimmey, and beause you are scratch building I am obviously wondering if and what you will show to access these platforms.

Very sorry Bill, as this would be wasted on me (Alec) and therefore aimed obviously at Peter, however, if you had a spare page showing something of the stack, I would love to see it.

There is a good picture on Navsource showing the ladders leading up the stack to the platforms to the searchlights. its the second to last pic on the first page of the uss iowa. http://navsource.org/archives/01/061/016101c.jpg

There's an excellent photo in Sumrall's book Iowa Class Battleships that shows the aft stack and the ladders running up that stack.

My scratchbuild of Missouri has taken me 10 years so far with about 2 to go. She's about the most complex ship I've modelled. Getting on for a couple dozen quad 40's and some 50 20mm's is just an example of the vast amount of (visible) equipment on this ship (as she was in her first commission).

Good luck

Peter, I forgot to say yesterday that you could find it worthwhile Googling USS Missouri - BB63. I did and it came up with several very interesting web sites for this ship - giving her history and some excellent photos throughout her career, and as she is now.
