Re: Postwar navy.
Some photos of the latest class of JMSDFs AAW warships. Like their cousins in the U.S. Navy. Kongu class evolved into an improved version with a helicopter hangar. Atago class is in no way an improved Arleigh Burke Flight II. It shares very few features with them. This is made clear by watching the VLS cells arrangement which is opposite to the Flight II Arleigh Burkes. the 64-cell VLS is located forward while the 32-cell VLS is aft.
DDG-177 belongs to the 3rd escort flotilla and is homeported at Maizuru.
DDG-178 belongs to the 2nd escort flotilla and is homeported at Sasebo.

These are all the JMSDF DDGs i ve built i hope you enjoyed watching them.
Next week i ll try to post pics of DDs and DDEs

Excellent models! I have the DDG 176 kit here and had to take a closer look after seeing your photos here. Some very intimidating looking ships they are...

Re: Postwar navy.
Lovely work, love those JMSDF DDGs, Especially the Atago class. As someone put it, the Kongu class are "Burke-ish" while the Atago class is "Burke-esque" IMO, the Atagos are much lovelier, in a slightly menacing way.

Planning is not quite the correct word-it is half built. Neptune sent me his half built ship, which I intend to finish.Nektarios wrote: Mathew are you planning to build a Boris Chilikn class UNREP ship???
