Re: Calling all Kirov, Slava & Ushakov class fans
I can't answer that Bob about the colours. It was something my Dad found out.carr wrote:I had occasionally noted apparent differences in color between the hull and superstructure but, because the difference was slight, I had always assumed it was due to differences in reflected light off the largely outward sloping hull versus the inward sloping superstructure. It never occurred to me that they were actually two distinct colors. Thanks, Mick, for pointing that out.
Any idea why the use of two different paints? Cammo? Differences in anti-corrosion properties? I'm at a loss why they would use two paints instead of one.
Thanks, Bob
Mate isn't it enough whats on top with out trying to figure out whats below the water line!!! Sorry can't help there mate.carr wrote:Does anyone have photos/drawings showing locations of Kirov's sea chests (scoops, discharges, intakes - hull openings by whatever terminology)?
Thanks, Bob

Guess nobody can really help much there. Even on most common ships it's hard to find all the sea chests etc.
I have some stuff on Kirov, yet big problem uploading it as my own program refuses to open the pics due to large size... I succeeded in reducing the size of some of them. Mostly deck shots. One of them loading Rif in port. Will try to fix the problem.

Re: Calling all Kirov, Slava & Ushakov class fans
I all call them the same. I rather think it's Nakhimov as the picture itself is also taken from another member of the class, giving a limited time frame in which Velikiy doesn't really fit. Add to it that Nakhimov is the only other one with Kashtan.
I'll see what I can do, the file size isn't so much a problem, it's rather the picture size of the others which is too much. 7000x3200 or something alike... program refuses to open such things and hence I can also not resize them. I also had trouble sending them to other people, but I'm working on it. These pictures are actually the worst of the series I have...

And of course, if you really want to go nuts
That's it for now. Good luck to the builders of some Kirov models.

Neptune I can't believe my eyes. The detail here in these few pictures really open my eyes to the detail on these ships. I look forward to more. In fact your welcome to flood the account with pictures like these. I can see anyone here saying to much. I personally look forward to the next batch.

Re: Calling all Kirov, Slava & Ushakov class fans
Nothing special though. Just check this topic at airbase:
http://forums.airbase.ru/2008/02/t60201 ... ALINI.html
you probably won't have acces to get the larger pics. However, just tell me which page and which name of the picture you are interested in, and I'll take it out for you (since I do have access)
Enjoy, that topic is really great. Too bad I'm already finished building my Russian ships.
