Anyways, I'll do what I can.

Re: Calling all Kirov, Slava & Ushakov class fans
Could have been deleted, by the time Velikiy was built, the design was alread quite old. Add to it that Velikiy received a new type of propellor somewhere in 2005 or so. However, this picture, with number 183 indicates it was taken somewhere in the '90s, before the propellor change...
It is possible that Trumpeter added these things by themselves, seeing it on other Soviet ships like Udaloy etc. Lower hulls are quite hard to find, the ones of Slava which I posted long time ago, were also the first I saw and also surprisingly different from other ships' lower hulls. The Udaloy was also quite recently seen for the first time and also very different from other ships, although she did retain the single rudder of the Krivaks and Sovremenny. Difficult to estimate the lower hull shape of a ship if you have no real dry dock shots.

Re: Calling all Kirov, Slava & Ushakov class fans
These round shapes are indeed vents. Actually they are exhausts/ fire dampers. Sometimes they have a small wheel on the outside, this wheel can be turned and on the inside it is connected to a plate with a gasket. This is pushed towards the exhaust tube and shuts it off. Here is a simplistic side view of the hole thing. Depending on how you want your air flow, you can open or close the upper or lower ones. The outside cap is just to prevent water, rates and other things from entering through these pipes. The general purpose of such structures is the entrance to the forepeak area as normally just behind it is the collision bulkhead of the ship. That bulkhead is watertight and normally doesn't have any openings (although occasionally a remote controlled hydraulic watertight door might be allowed). So practically if you want to go to that forepeak area you have to come on deck and enter through the door of this superstructure.

And here are the two other ones, I resized them and finally found the password to my photobucket back, so I can upload larger pics now (and not kill this site).

Very nice! I especially like the views from the superstructure. Where were the color pictures of Kirov taken? Thank you for continuing to post these!

They were taken in Severodvinsk, the Kirov is there for decommisioning. There was a short ceremony held onboard. The subs you see in the back are there for decommissioning and upgrading/overhaul.

I agree with the observation - we can also reference the tip of the starboard tunnel side and its relation with the indent at the ship's stern - the downward bulge is clearly not on the centerline.
