Kidcurrie42 thanks for the correction on Newcastle as i really thought she was batch 2 but allas you are right. So was you a club swinger? If so whats the best colour for painting the deck? I only ask as you must have run round the upper deck a few times  Thanks again for putting me right

Hiya Slipkid,
That is the Old Gunnery Badge, i came out as a Chief Gunner/Missileman/AWW, I recommend using the WEM Range of paints, Humbrol 27 or Revell 57 darkened slightly, difference between weatherdecks and flightdeck is minimal especially after a little weather and wear and tear.

any questions just ask, here or by PM.

Happy Modeling

Here is another picture of H.M.S Gloucester adding more detail mainly the railings, once that is done i'll start adding the aerials etc ready for a primer then painting can begin and other small detail will be added.
Would like some detailed pictures of the crane if anyone has any.

cosbymai,
Please give my regards to your father - he commanded Manchester when I was on her and I still have the photo he gave me of Manchester chasing the Baku up by Norway. I was his LRO(T) back then!

Best Regards

Steve,
He always enjoys hearing from old shipmates so I will of course pass on your regards when I'm next in touch. Funnily enough I was looking at a series of photos of Baku and Manch last month.

Happy Modelling.

Alright... I'm looking at the thoughts of a Batch 2, with modifications. First on my list, is an exported version to Spain, with Oto 5" Compact, VLS and Meroka in place of Phalanx. I'll likely modify places of it to continue to support the CIWS positions, as apparently the Batch Two loses them. I'm entertaining other modification ideas for a second '42 I have, so ideas are welcome.

Congratulations on a fine Type 42 , being an avid RN Destroyer fan , over the years I have scratch built a Type 23 Frigate , a Type 82 HMS Bristol and a Type 22 batch 111 frigate , unfortunately they are in Australia in my Fathers garage so I can`t show the pics , but I am quite proud of them, they are all 1/700 scale , when I return to Australia I will post the photos on this site .
