Good to have you back Dave, did you enjoy your trip to the show, nice update.

Hi Ron Bill departed back to the States last Wednesday after an exhausting trip. Many times around the 8 halls that form the Intermodellbau . I even managed to get me the crew for Kiev at 1:144 scale in the train hall . Missed Ingura but we had a long chat with Guido , always great to meet up with friends. Plenty to see and enjoy.

Hi Laurent Yes it would have been great to have seen you at the Intermodellbau . Trouble is finding any one in that huge complex is a job in it's self . Usually we have one or two meeting points , like Telford ., even if we miss there are others that can relay messages on.

With all the hatches made these were placed in position as per the drawing and photo

Some of the detail on the end of the deck housing has been added . More
is yet to be included

The next job involved making oval inspection plates that fitted close to the deck
hatches around the RBU 6000 launchers .

Each of these had a series of locking nuts around the edge . This was simulated
by using small droplets of PVA administered from a fine strip of .33 wire. {hardly
visible in the photo}

One set of oval cover plates are set in place .

The forward RBU 6000 base before the oval plates are in place

The forward RBU 6000 with deck hatches and cover plates.

The two loading doors for replenishing the SUW-N-1 launcher

Getting more complex the area around the SUW-N-1 twin arm launcher and forecastle

i have a pounce wheel for making rivets,but it does not do a very good job it tends to distort the styrene,and it's no good for small parts.I use the same metod as you works fine.i always used white glue but using thiner glue for small things sound good.I pick up a lot of good methods from you and others on this forum.

Indeed, great work once again. Fun stuff probably as making the weapons for a warship is always nice! I do think that soon the Chinese will capture him to help them fix their Kuznetsov and Minsk to get them running again This is becoming more interesting by the day.

Hi Jim Thanks for you kind words . The "Bill" going back to the States? is my good friend Bill Clarke from the Hampton Roads ship Model Society . Every year he attends The Intermodellbau Dortmund . He's the only modeler I know that spends more time in the archive in DC than the people who work there.

I've been preoccupied of late clambering over 1 :1 warships
so my up dates have been a little slow in posting for this I do apologize .
back to the Kiev .
In the absence of PE for the FLYCO the only other option was to fabricate
the entire section . As both the lower and upper window frames slope outwards
and then inwards respectively the angle was governed not so much by the
drawing or the photo but by the actual height of the bridge as modeled. With
this in mind work could begin. First the base supporting, the 6 outer raised sides
and inner sloping sides was drawn up and cut to size .

This was followed by placing the base into position on the side of the bridge
and the vertical sides added. It should be noted that each of the side located
into the bridge are cut sloping backwards to take into account the slope outwards
of the sides of the bridge .

With the base and sides correspondingly numbered each of the sides were set
into place.

With the outer 6 sides in place the entire lower section was removed .

The back inner sloping sides added. This was not essential but it does give more
strength to what will be quite a fragile piece of work.

Each of the sloping windows on the FLYCO are not flush with the raised sides
but set back . For this small strips were cut to size and added to the top of the
raised sides

With this part of the construction almost complete the lower section was then placed back into position .


Next time forming the windows .
