Yesterday i got my new display case from IKEA i assembled it and voila.

I intend to put inside it the dioramas i intend to make with postwar ships from Korea to Desert storm period.

I think the space inside the display case won t be enough so i guess i 'll have to buy a second one.

Very nice. I've been looking for a display case myself since my fleet is (slowly) growing. I don't think I've seen that one at Ikea here, now I'll have to look again

IKEA - Swedish for "Comes in many pieces, goes together with an Allen Key" as we say over here.

Looks like a good shelf though - I think if I ever manage to get a case, it's gotta have doors on it though - I've got cats that like to nose at the shelves once in a while.

Heiko Ikea combines good quality and a low price. For a similar sized display case i was asked for 1100 Euros. I got it for less than 300

I really, like that new cabinet, Nektarios! I'm sure that the books on top will be shortly replaced by ship models, though.

Also, I was able to get another USS Chandler kit at a discount and replace those top deck compartment pieces that were missing from the kit that you gave to me. Now that new kit looks like the one that you had.

Last weekend, I black washed the starboard side and finished up the helo pad decals. I still need to do some detail painting on the life rings, UNREP stations, etc., add the small boats, touch up the bridge windows, and add the life boat baskets and PE railings.





My Navy Base diorama's wood base is at the local trophy shop getting a plexi glass case to fit the groove that I routered around the perimeter of. After that, I'll adhere the water sheet to the base and continue the harbor's construction.

And I'm anxious to do one of those USS Garcia kits!

Good idea But then again, something tells me both of them together would pose an even bigger threat to the well-being of my ships...

I have made some thoughts on what to display in the case and how i m gonna do that.

I have seen John s plan on how he s gonna display his carriers. He ll arrange his carriers according to the class they belong to. I ll display my carriers and other warships in relation to the era and conflict starting with the Korean war and ending somewhere in the late 1990s. My latest era warship to display is CV-62 U.S.S. Independence as she apeared in 1998 on her last deployment.

I m trying to catch some of the most important moments in postwar naval history. For example U.S.S. Independence last deployment was the last ever of the first postwar class of U.S.N. carriers the Forrestal class.
