I am currently building the FNS Surcouf, a heavy cruiser submarine, which I formed the hull with R10 pink foam. When shaped, I will cover with epoxy resin and fiberglass.

I built my USS CONSTELLATION with Expanding Foam. After it cured, I shaped, filled, sanded, and then covered with polyester resin and fiberglass mesh then sanded some more.

Re: Anyone as done an hull with styrofoam ?
Hello,
I have used it on my hull plug for my Canadian destroyer escort HMCS Assiniboine.(on the scratchbuilding board) I was told by someone that you have to be careful with the styrofoam when using polyester resin as it will melt it. I covered the foam with papermache and them fiberglassed it. I haven't had any problems. I think that epoxy resin is okay to use on the foam without the papermache.
Hope this helps.

Built the SDM tug using a carved foam hull and
then finished using epoxy resin and fiberglass.
