Re: WIP: 1/350 Pre-War USS Honolulu (CL-48)
Hi Guys,
An, "in between post".
Jorden the boy cat is full grown; gets into pretty much everything and he always wants treats. He is a good boy and even if the front door is left open, he won't leave. I do have to be mindful of his imminent presence and his thoroughly destructive, "no remorse", capability.
My finished models are either in a glass case at home or at my LHS on display. Safe for now!
USS Honolulu will be going away when finished. Admiral HE Kimmel's great grandson will end up with this model; although I have no direct connection with the man. I was asked to build this model by another person whom knows the would-be recipient.
Cats out of the bag gentlemen.
No pun...?

Hi Guys,
Dave,
I had to paint the entire catapult assembly #5 and then mask/paint the deck color #20 on the walkways.
There was some touching needed after masking tape removal and excessive handling. I'm still not finished!
Dick,
Two things: I'd love to have you photograph it. i'd love to finish it in time for Nats too. That is the plan.
Bob Cicconi is supposed to take it from me in Ohio and fly it back to PA for the guy I'm building it for.
That is............if I finish it!
Still at it!

Hi Guys,
The cats are finished. These things took me a week from start to finish, but that's with all of life's interruptions....

Re: WIP: 1/350 Pre-War USS Honolulu (CL-48)
Hi Guys,
After suffering some serious burn-out on this project, I have decided to finish my 1/350 DDG-22 USS Benjamin Stoddert project and then resume with Honolulu afterwards. This decision is made in part to see this project to a meaningful end; not an expedited one.
There is still much to be done and in a slow but steady pace.
I just can't see finishing this project in the next 5 weeks.

Re: WIP: 1/350 Pre-War USS Honolulu (CL-48)
Hi Guys,
Well, this one's to the end. I've probably said that before!
I have to finish this by August, so it'll be posts here and there that may include numerous changes in stuff and great leaps in progress; I hope!
Here are some pics of the Honolulu as it looks today; pieced together.
no flash used.......

I am now adding vertical ladders atop painted surfaces. What was I thinking?
I also will be adding railings to each deckhouse before stacking them permanently.
Also, I got some beautiful brass props from G-Factor Models that look perfect for Honolulu. They're actually brass direct copies of the props fromTamiya's new Mikuma kit. So similar its' scary!
More soon, Tony
ps then I'll get back to the Type VII and then the CVS-14 in 1/700. After that, the 1/350 DDG-22.......
