New 110' Subchaser Book

Post by davidwaples »

Greetings all,
T. Garth Connelly just relased a book through Squadron Signal on this subject. This book covers both WWI and WWII era 110' Sub Chasers and has some exceptional detail. I've just started reading it but Garth has done a nice job of laying out the history of these boats and giving us some very nice detail.

The only kits out there that I'm aware of for this subject are the old Glencoe WWI offering in 1/74 scale, and a 1/700 WWII era model from Loose Cannon Productions. Hopefully this book will generate some interest and we'll see more offerings of these special little boats.

I just ordered the book and am working on the old ITC-now glencoe kit. I t can be made into a really nice kit with a little extra scratch building. Also ordered sevela sets of plans for Bluejacket, Loyalhanna and Floating Drydock.

It's really an excellent book on an "under-researched" subject. Garth has solid credentials, plenty of writing skill...

...and relatives who served in SCs!
