Does anyone have trouble spraying a certain color....

.... and find them worse than others? LIke this MM enamel Flat sea blue im doing, just doesnt seem to do right.

Maybe cause its so dark or something. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same thing happen with certain colors.

Tamiya-All gloss colors and flat white& metallics

Gloss white. Impossible to handpaint while looking good.

In what way are you having problems. What do you mean, 'doesn't seem to do right"?
You are spraying; I figured that much.
Is the airbrush clean?
Are you using compatible paints/thinners?
Is the surface clean?
Is the paint mixed for airbrush use to the consistancy of milk?
Pressures around 20 psi.
Was it exceptionally moist outside?
Do you have a compressor or a Co2 cylinder?
If a compressor, do you have a water trap?
Are the base colors the same, if so maybe consider primer grey, (airbrushed on), first.
Is there adequate light.......big concern?

Tony: Only time whites are used are on those small little radar domes. Too small to justify setting up and cleaning the airbrush.

I have trouble with two.

WEM AP507A admiralty dark gray
WEM Kriegsmarine dark gray.

not sure why, but they cover a lot worse than everything else in their CC range.

BTW: painting very small parts, (especially white), is made much easier using an airbrush...even if multiple coats are needed........

Badger 150il. Double action, cleans easily and works good. The Co2 cylinder is now 3 years old, and I have had it refilled 4 times.
Would'nt do it any other way!

Oh yeah... I hate yellow. It causes me no end of grief.

And, I have come full circle back to enamels. I recently tried the WEM enamels - it was like I done died and gone to heaven. Smooth and easy and thin and even. I always seemed to have trouble somewhere along the line with acrylics. No more. I had come to the conclusion that I would never, never use MM acrylics no matter what. Now, it is likely I won't use acrylics at all for spraying. Other than drying time and doing it in the garage for the fumes, enamels seem to have little downside.

Tony: Any tips on how to cover the tip of the nozzel for the back flushing? Since it's in that weird tri-point shape, it's hard to cover it completely.

Hi Timmy,
I assume that you are referring to the airbrush cleaning process.
With the B-150il, I only remove the needle and wipe it clean. While the needle is removed, the head is cleaned with a toothbrush soaked with whatever solvent is being used.
This is usually all that is required to keep the 150il clean.
This process must be done after EVERY use, no matter how small the task.

What I previosly wrote is ALL that I ever have done, so I suppose the answer is....no.
Clean after each use, that's the key.
