Ron has given a general flavour of this very large event so here are a few on the water shots .
There where many more models to be seen .

Part of the the model submariners display an Russian Alpha class, which was a fully functioning model remarkable for it�s small size .The water was almost ideal for submarines.

Beautiful shot of an incredible model Dave, I've seen the model in the Glasgow Transport Museum but a live steam version is very impressive.

There's some nice pieces in there, Dave... loving that Halifax Class, the Batch 3 T42, the T45, Alfa and the Typhoon - the submarines are just something else. I Love the Alfa and the Akula, they're just such sleek little monsters... and the Typhoon, well, who can't love that gargant of a submarine, unless they're on the other end of her missiles.

Hi Dan In the UK if you want to run live steam at an event you have to have a safe compound , keeping the public at a distance whilst you steam up. The same builder has a live steam model of the armoured cruiser HMS Kent .

The submarines are great to watch, you never really know where the boats are and when they will surface. Yes the Halifax class is a superb model and sails well. Most of the surface warships are to 1:72nd scale .

I think a trend is developing in the UK and seen at the Convention for smaller ships larger scales and away from the once popular large ships smaller scales . This Castle Class corvette HMS Flint Castle is a good example , although there are many more. There is also a strong trend for adding figures to give the model some life like appearance .

Once again seen at the Convention a good example of "manning the ship" and having a realistic effect is this superb t 1:32nd scale USN sub chaser .

Mark Hawkings attended the Convention with this fine 1:96 scale Dreadnought but is seen on the water at the 09 Potteries Navy Day .
