so the furnace filter picks up all the paint particles? nice.kidcurrie42 wrote:That is one cool paint booth reigels, i will use a similar design when i have my workshop and finally get back to airbrushing.reigels wrote:After 35 years of model building, I finally took an hour last night to build myself a proper spray booth.
It's nothing fancy: just some card board, an old fan and a couple of layers of furnace filters from Home Depot. It doesn't vent outside, so it doesn't address fumes (haven't hurt me yet...) but it seems to do a good job with paint particles and provides a relatively dust free area for painting.
I put two filters in place: a cheap fiber filter in front with a higher priced dust filter behind it. Top flips down for storage and I'll plan on keeping it covered for dust protection which can be an issue with wood sanding sometimes being done close by.
Total cost was about $5.00 (plus the cost of the new kitchen sink that came in the box).
Thanks for sharing
Happy modeling

those display cases are remarkable.yohan wrote:It's fun to see where other people spend their time building models. Here's my work area (the room is actually larger than the photo suggests. I do need a larger table though.) And here's why I don't have too much extra space in my hobby room...display case #1: And display case #2:
Together they're holding about 250 finished 1/700 models.

Great thread. It almost motivates me to get down and fix up my bench so I can get some ships out. You guys have some of the nicest work areas I've seen - I'm envious. Here are two of my work areas, another one is "projected" (when I clear all the stuff off it.)

Been a while since a thread update, so I will add mine to the gallery.

Mine is L shaped, well lighted. I was lucky this workshop was just screaming at me when we bought the house last year. It isn't bad I get this room and a sometimes use of a bathroom... no just kidding in reality it is pretty sweet. Pretty awesome place to chill, all I need is one of these(I am willing to take Donations):
Questions Thoughts and comments welcome

It's a bit out of focus, but still recognisable, my favourite corner of the workbench

Boy, is that bench spiffy.
Did you straited up for the photo or is it usually that neat. Mine's not!

Not exactly as neat and orderly as some others, but it's home sweet home. A converted Dining Room in my house. The wife doesn't miss it.

Thanks GTB. I've always been a "lurker" here. Love this forum and site.
My bench needs a bit of spiffing up though. It never recovered after ARIZONA. I need to do some spring cleaning in the fall.

@Sean... That's a 1/100 scale ARIZONA. Built from paper, card and other materials. It's an increase in size from the 1/250 scale kit that it was designed.
@reigels... Ah, you spotted my gravity fed water filter. It does look like a stainless coffee urn though. It doesn't fit in the kitchen so it resides in my studio. That's ok though, I get thirsty while modeling.

Re: Post Pics of Your Workbenches!
Here is my version of chaos. It looks like a mess, but I know where everything is when I reach for it. Every time I clean the desk in between, during, or after a project, I can never find what I need, and within a day or 2 of working on a project, it looks like this again. This is pretty much how it always looks, with the exception that on this rare occasion, there is not a bottle of Budweiser on the bench, since I took these pics before work today.

Good little corner of the world to work. Very good. I wish I had a window.

Nick, that is a perfect bench. When I get my corner of the basement built, that is the look I would like to emulate. Well done!Nick_Karatzides wrote:Some pictures of my hobby room. Click on the first image to enlarge hi-res 180 degrees picture
