You do realize that there was a gap between the side and the roof and between the side and the face, don't you? The purpose of these plates was to allow cooling air to circulate between the hot outer plates and the actual turret structure. The gap was necessary for the circulation. Or is there some other size issue that you are referring to?

The heat shields you are right about that but if i'm not mistaken this turret design covers the whole turret's surface unlike some of the ones i've seen on the Myoko class. i'm going to check my AOTS book when i get home from work today.. i'll let you know.

i think i know what's the problem Dick, it seems these P.E parts were not designed for Minekaze's turrets somehow these are bigger than Aoshima's

You probably misunderstood what I wrote about the gap, i wasnt referring to the heat shields small gaps above the roof of the turret but to the gap left on top of the turret when i attached the P.E plate on it, as i wrote before i know what happened. Flyhawk designed these plates solely for Aoshimas Takao turrets not for the custom made Tone from Minekaze, thus P.E turret panels are much smaller than the turret itself and doesnt cover the entire roof surface, its ironic though because the side P.E panels and even the rear one cover those 3 surfaces pretty well..

1/350 might be tough. Miyukikai issues them in 1/200 and they are excellent. Is there a particular reason for the 1/350 spec?

Hi Dan,

Yes I'm looking for plans for the new Tamiya Tone, due out in December. I really need to focus on the rigging and deck storage areas. I would even take photocopies if anyone has some.

You mean, not paying the intellectual property rights to the author of the drawings?

I think the 1/200 plans would have all the rigging detail you need, IMHO. That, and Gakken vol #47. That has the incredible 1/100 Tone model, fully rigged, and what looks like 1/350 plans, with rigging.

Is anyone producing a dedicated PE set for the Tamiya 1/350 Kit? :thanks:

Nothing announced yet. Tamiya has a small PE fret included in the kit.

Dan - I took a look at the supplied sheet, its pretty sparse. Do you think a Takao or Haguaro set will do?

I have the kit, :woo_hoo: still sealed waitng for Santa to drop it off.

No dont try Takao or Myoko class set of PE.
Take your chances better with that set:http://www.militarymodelling.com/news/a ... asp?a=5674
A wild guess, soon Lion Roar will have a didicate set out soon.
