Re: Oh no!! another japanese battleship
Thanks Molders!!
hi guys, i've got a question there regarding what kind of planes Nagato carried in 1941. i got to finish the plane's deck today no pictures until sunday Gilbert
please chime in whenever you see this question. i want to add a total of 3 planes i haven't made up my mind yet but i'd love to add one white "JAKE" as i've seen before but i'm not sure if she actually carried any at that time? and for the remaining planes i'd say Nakajimas? i'm basing myself on my 3D Nagato book and some 1/350 models which shows the ship carrying these camouflaged. any help is greatly appreciate it. TIA

I am afraid there was no Aichi E13A "Jake" carried by Nagato in 1941 but only two Nakajima E8N "Dave". Tail codes were in yellow letters AII-1 and AII-2 until June 1942.
Cheers

Gilbertthanks, are these camouflaged Nakajimas? i'm asking you because i've also seen them white however if i'm not mistaken color white was used prior to 1940? i want to get all these info right so that i can start work on the planes no later than tonite.
Jose
Disregard my last question Gilbert i just found out the answer. i didn't forget about the Pit-road set of planes i've bought a while back but i did forget about the cool drawings on the box..

Re: Oh no!! another japanese battleship
Jose, this is a tough one because of the lack of pictures clearly showing her floatplanes. However, in 1941-1942, they were more than likely camouflaged and they have been painted this way on most of the models depicting Nagato as in this timeframe. As Nagato did'nt sailed much prior to the MI operation, it is likely they were not repainted in light grey.J. Soca wrote:I owe you another one GilbertGilbert wrote:

Re: Oh no!! another japanese battleship
Thanks Red!! hey i know you can all you need is a little bit of patience.
Next week i want to start tackling Nagato's hull, i'll probably have Nagato's deck all masked up by friday perhaps earlier i'll try to use my liquid mask as much as i can and i'm sure this will save me plenty of time.
here is what i've finished..

I really like the camo job on the Dave's. They look perfect. What color paint/brand did you use for the tan color on the plane?

Bob, sorry about writing "Earth Brown" now that i look at the bottle's name is " Earth Red" however this looks brown to me, this acrylic paint is from Model Masters. i had to go over the painted areas couple of times you know its an acrylic but at the end all came out beautifully.Quincy wrote:Oops. Thanks Luciano !!, BTW Awesome job with your carrier
Hey guys, week went by and i never finished i'd say about 60% of the deck's masking this is just to boring
sometimes i feel lazy about doing something i don't like and i'd rather do something else i really feel like doing hence i completely finished whatever was left on the pagoda, perhaps later on when i get down to the full rigging i'll think about adding some signal flags, anyhow it's done it took me a while to get it to this stage but i'm very happy with her look, enjoy the shots.
