I am in need of some assistance in interpreting the data contained in a table of offsets for a hull design. I have the file saved as an Excel spread sheet, MS Word document file and even a text file but this forum will not allow uploads of these types of files.
I can share the data via eMail if you wish to review the information I have and assist me in determining what values are contained within the majority of the columns. The measurements appear to be in feet, inches, and fractions of inches and my concern is how to convert this into a readable format to be uploaded as a text file to DELFTship in order to create a digital model of the Nasty and Tjeld class hull.
I have determined that the value of the data represented as number - number- number in each of the columns represents the x - y - z coordinates of each frame. Now that part of the problem has been sorted out I am still experiencing some problems with the spacing in the text file as to how many spaces are required between columns to physically separate them as you read down in order to allow the DELFTship software to read this data and successfully convert it to a hull form on screen.
I thought this was going to be a simple conversion by copying the data to a text file and importing it to the DELFTship program. So far it (DELFTship] refuses to recognize the text file as a table of offsets. I even attempted to modify an existing table of offsets that I exported from DELFTship with the data from my table of offsets and then import it back into DELFTship. The end result was terribly wrong when viewed on screen the hull had a very definite boomerang shape to it which was not very boat-like at all.
So anyone have a suggestion on how to create a table of offsets that DELFTship can recognize and convert to the desired boat hull shape?
