I think it's for the 1942 version, as the deck set was released 3 months before the 1944 version, according to HLJ:
Deck: http://www.hlj.com/product/KALMD70004
1942 kit: http://www.hlj.com/product/AOS03867
1944 kit: http://www.hlj.com/product/AOS04777

Additionally, the quarterdeck does not seem to make allowances for the stern triple 25mm in the 1944 kit.

I'm just starting in on the new 1/700 Aoshima Nagato as depicted in 1944. I have heard that many ships by 44 had their degaussing cables removed. Does anyone have any historical reference on this point? Did Nagato have her degaussing cable in late 1944 before Leyte Gulf?

Thanks,

David

Perfect - I just "love" fiddling with degaussing cable!

Thanks Russ.

i am working on the 16" guns and turrets on nagato after 1936,i belive all guns had the practise gun mounts on the barrels, but did every gun have the practise guns also, or did they just move the gun to whatever turret they want'nt to practise with. i ask this because some pics show just the mounts on all barrels.

Would a video help?

Russ take a look at the first couple of seconds you'll see the practice guns on both fore turrets and if you keep watching the clip towards the end you'll see practice guns going off in a couple of occasions, however you can't see all 4 turrets practice firing at the same time on this clip. from what i saw it was either the fore or aft turrets but it doesn't mean they practiced with only 2 turrets though. A big thanks for Jose Soca for his help with the new Lion Roar Pe super detail set for the 1/700 Nagato. I have nearly completed the major sections of the bridge. Like Jose, I found that the upper levels of the PE lacked any way to connect to the level above (they expected you to cut off parts of the plastic pieces and use them (I suppose) Or they expected the support rods to be perfectly aligned etc. (they never are) So I did use pieces of the Aoshima bridge for the last (top) level. Other than that - it's pretty much all PE. Once it's covered in hammock splinter protectors, guns and rigging it should look just fine. PE is very hard to get to sit perfectly straight.
Overall, the two bottom bridge pieces with all the windows were ok in PE, but they may have over reached in going all PE for the entire pagoda. a few pics for the group.

Outstanding job David!! :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: i'm glad you were able to pull it through the way you told you were going to do it. i gave up after seeing how things were supposed to go and decided to come up with my own hybrid design of plastic and P.E levels, i don't regret it though it was something new to try. keep us updated and you are welcome David i'm glad i could help on this one.

Hello,

I have a question about photoetched material used In Model Art 26 Takao Class issue. There is also a Nagato build article and below photoetched set used for detailing turret mounts. Probably its bolted plate for holding armor blocks together.

I saw similar parts used for IJN vessels hull detailing also.

Anyway, somebody know where can I or we all buy it ?

Looks from the photo as though the company is called Echo Model. I don't recall what other companies make this, but it is fairly easily available in hobby stores. I haven't looked but I'd be surprised if HLJ or Rainbow Ten and so on don't have it in their online catalogs. If worst comes to worst, let me know and I'll have a look. I've never used it myself but the ones I've seen in shops looked, like those on the photo, pretty good.

Gernot,

Many thanks for your help. I will search it on internet shops first and if I could not find it, may disturb you.
