Timmy C - this a absolutely great. I have found a wide range of exellent photographs of the front and sides of KASHTAN but the rear and overhead has been very difficult. It is worth noting that this is an earlier KASHTAN verison and not the one fitted on STEREGUSHCHY - the lower "skirt" (I presume that they are used to capture the expended cartridge cases) and the arrangments for connecting the Gatling gun to the missile rail are quite diffierent but are very easy to deduce from the excellent photographs available. Now all we need are the hull frame or cross section drawings!!!! Cheers from OZ.

I'm glad you find it somewhat useful - I was worried about the possibility of different versions as well!

Timmy The Drawing of the Kashtan is just the ticket . As I have said so often you really can't have enough information .

Here're some more shots of Stere's Kashtan/Kortik. There are more shots of the ship's starboard side on pages 2 and 3 of this thread:

Thanks Nick - Had not seen the very useful shot of the flight deck control centre before - not many clear shots of this area. This will definitely help in accurately modelling this area. Cheers

Hi Mick That's a great shot .I must admit I hadn't any photos of the rear of the Kortnik. Also photos of within the bridge wings are rare has hens teeth a bit of a blank spot? Thanks for posting up the picture very useful indeed.

We seem to have a great photograph collection and some excellent plans of this ship but as I see it there are still two key items we lack - pictures of the inside of the bridge wings and of course hull lines/ cross sections. No chance you can work your magic again timmyc??? Cheers

Sorry Dave - the Airbase forum is dead right now, so none of the old threads are accessible. I was already looking for hull lines last time, and there weren't any. I don't think you'll find much on the inboard side of the bridge wings either, since most of the photos were taken from dockside.

Does anyone have any idea what STEREGUSHCHY's ship's badge looks like? I cant find one on any of the photographs that I hold. Cheers Dave P

This what a Russian Navy ship's badge should be based on as I understand it.

Me too, although I'm likely to be onboard again by then, probably without connection.
Maybe I can already start the topic, like I did on Kiev, that'll get you moving! Besides, June was the approx finishing date for Kiev, and August and September is quite a while later, so what would you be wasting your time with in between??? :heh: :heh: :heh:

Great news Dave - how have you approached the hull section issue? I am still working up my own interpretation of the hull sections for 1/72 scale and I hope to start building the hull *Plank on frame) before the end of the year,

These over runs :heh: a normal procedure for all naval projects!!!!! Roel Just think of how long the old Gorshkov has taken , even I'm building faster than that project and that's saying something.

Hi Dave looks like we will be on the same project at around the same time but at different scales, this will be interesting . The hull will be plank on frame but I'm also looking into the possibilities of going GRP. As with all the models I build I do like to have them working even if it's only to prove to myself that they do just that .
